Guest Author

Sativa Banks is a postdoctoral scholar at the UC Davis Centers for Violence Prevention. Her research sits at the intersection of firearm violence, intimate partner violence, and media representations of intimate partner homicide. She examines how policy environments and media narratives shape who is at risk, who receives protection, and where prevention opportunities are being missed. Her work advances equitable, evidence-informed approaches to violence prevention that center the experiences of those most disproportionately impacted, including Black women, who remain among the least protected by existing policy frameworks.
