Jo Mhairi Hale

Dr. Jo Mhairi Hale is an Assistant Professor at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She received her PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Davis in 2016 then completed a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany, where she met her collaborators on this project. She is dedicated to shedding light on the stark and far-reaching consequences of social inequalities in hopes of contributing to dismantling power structures that perpetuate those inequalities. She focuses primarily on population health disparities and disparities in outcomes for Mexican migrants to the US.
