Alaina Kinol
Guest AuthorAlaina Kinol is a doctoral candidate at Northeastern University’s School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, researching public policy approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation, with a focus on transformation and justice in multiple sectors. Her dissertation research, funded by a NIH T32 pre-doctoral traineeship, examines how community advocates and fossil fuel corporations negotiate power in the energy transition policy process through advocacy and obstruction, and how their interactions enable (or constrain) climate-just transformational policy. With her advisors, Dr. Laura Kuhl and Dr. Jennie C. Stephens, and colleagues, she has also researched the role of disasters in sustainable transitions, opportunities and limitations for nature-based solutions to contribute to climate justice transformations, and approaches for climate justice policy evaluation.
